U.S. President Donald Trump deployed the National Guard to quell protests that erupted in Los Angeles over an anti-immigration operation. Many have criticized his decision. However, Trump is quite confident in his move. He said that without this action, Los Angeles would have been completely destroyed.

The protests began last Friday in Los Angeles and surrounding areas. By Sunday, the demonstrations had intensified significantly. Thousands of protesters took to the streets, with incidents including road blockades and cars being set on fire. In response to the escalating situation, Donald Trump decided to deploy 2,000 National Guard troops.

In the U.S., National Guard deployment in a state typically requires a request from the state’s governor. However, this time, Trump deployed the forces without a request from California Governor Gavin Newsom. Newsom opposed Trump’s move, but Trump ignored the criticism.

Posting on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump wrote, “Sending in the National Guard to deal with the violent, provocative riots in California was a great decision. If we hadn’t done it, Los Angeles would have been completely destroyed.”

Criticizing Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, Trump added, “The grossly incompetent Governor Gavin Newsom and Mayor Karen Bass should have said, ‘Thank you, President Trump. You are amazing. We couldn’t have done it without you.’ But instead, they chose to lie to the people of California.”
